What types of therapy do you provide & what ages do you treat?We specialize in supporting feeding and oral motor skills for infants & toddlers, speech and oral myofunctional therapy for children and adolescents, and early language development for children ages 1-5 years.

How do I know if my child needs therapy?If you’re concerned about your child’s feeding, speech, language development, mouth breathing, or sleep, we offer screenings and evaluations to help determine if therapy is recommended.

Do you take insurance?Horizons Therapy accepts Sunshine Health (ages 0-2yrs11mos) and CMS-Medicaid members primary insurance policies. Eligibility verification completed prior to evaluation and therapy. Horizons Therapy accepts credit card payments (including HSA) through the secure web portal due at the time of service. A Superbill receipt is provided upon request to assist clients who seek insurance reimbursement for Out-of-Network services. Please call your insurance company to find out if you are eligible for out-of-network speech-language/feeding therapy and evaluation reimbursement.

Do you accept the Step Up for Students Unique Abilities Scholarship?Yes, we are an approved provider for the Step Up for Students Unique Abilities Scholarship. If you are using scholarship funds, requests for sessions must be submitted through the scholarship portal before each session. Payments are typically processed on the same day. If a request is not submitted, your card on file may be charged. We’re happy to help guide you through the process if you have any questions!

Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?A referral is required prior to scheduling for families utilizing insurance (CMS/ Sunshine Health Medicaid). A referral is not required on file for private pay.

How do I get started?Call or Message us to discuss your concerns. We start with an initial consultation to see if Horizons is a right fit for you. If you decide to proceed, an evaluation is scheduled and a case history and initial patient intake packet will be sent electronically. 407.801.3113

Can parents or caregivers attend sessions?Absolutely! We encourage caregiver participation and offer coaching so progress continues at home.

What can I expect during an evaluation?An evaluation can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the areas being evaluated. We use formal and informal testing measures including: parent/caregiver interview/ case history, clinical observations, and standardized testing. Referrals to other providers may be made, if during the evaluation your child is having difficulties that are outside the scope of practice of the SLP. Following the evaluation you will receive a brief verbal summary of the evaluation. If therapy is recommended, a written report will be reviewed with you during the first therapy session. If it is found that your child has age-level speech and language skills, a written report will be sent to you via patient portal.

How long and how frequent are therapy visits?Therapy is different for every patient. Therapy sessions vary based on evaluation findings, severity, and areas being targeted. Recommendations vary from 1 to 3 times a week for 30 or 60 minute sessions. Recommendations for duration of therapy is discussed after the evaluation.

Where are sessions held?Therapy sessions take place in our Winter Garden clinic. We also offer virtual sessions in select cases when appropriate.
